Comparison of UV-C LED with UV-C Hg Lamp

UV-C LEDs provide greater disinfection effect in the air chamber space of an Air Handling Unit (AHU). UV-C LED are installed in AHUs to sterilize coils and disinfect surfaces. It targets and irradiates the cooling coil and condensate drain pan . The UV-C LED has excellent features that, if used systematically, can produce wonderful results and are frequently employed in AHUs to reduce the bacterial load on cooling coils. Using UV-C LED, mold and algae are reduced on cooling coils. It kills bacteria, viruses and germs, and controls other allergens .

Existing UV-C Mercury lamp is only effective for surface decontamination on AHU’s cooling coil due to cold and fast moving air. UV-C LED is more efficient at low temperature environment and its focused light readily kills bacteria and viruses on surfaces and under fast airflow. Long LED lifespan further reduce regular maintenance and its mercury-free content does not require addtional workplace safety requirements.

APPLICATIONS

Another application is the UV disinfection at the airport. Hand and check-in luggages can be disinfection with UV irradiation at the security check and luggage conveying system. After the check-in the luggage can be UV disinfected to prevent contamination of the airplane.

In AHU air chamber space, UV-C LED provides greater intensity output and higher disinfection effect. UV-C LED are installed in AHU for coil sterilisation and surface disinfection.
